19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his initial title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy following the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Victory also means he has won twenty-one victories at 21 various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

His retrieving approach and recurring outbursts on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to perform at the elite level was concluded.

However the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent rescued four early-game chances in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
